Summary: How it got the rating on CNET it did is beyond me. I guess that's why people can review it themselves. I bought this cam not expecting much, and it turns out that the performance is below my lowest expectation. In my opinion the MSRP should be $5. I have the problems that everyone else has with this image quality and lighting. I also esperence choppy images when used in net meeting even with a broadband connection. I guess that it's true you get what you pay for, but this cam is not even worth the $30 bucks. Save your money and buy something else. I'll be buying another cam next week.

Summary: Since owning UFO VEO cam, I still have not heard tech support response. I bet he had brighest room (betcha lot of window & sunshine)for cam to see. My basment have no window and just two 65 watt Flood lights. This is enough lights in there but VEO connect requires 100 watt desklamp shining on you so it can "see" you clearly. This brand still SUX!!! Hey VEO Rep. if you read this, Please do better!! Fix that cam to see low light better. Also fix that software to work with Netmeeting (adjust video source while running Netmeeting which current software greyed out!!).

cheap cam - keep looking

Summary: Don't base your purchase on the negative reviews. The camera works great. I am running a home-built Win98 300 Mhz Celeron with 256MB of memory (far from a powerhouse) and a cable modem connection with Yahoo Messenger. The person I interface with is 2000 miles away and also uses the Veo Connect without any problems. I think that performance issues are computer related and not the fault of the camera. Roll the dice, give it a try and hopefully save some money.

Summary: Maybe I am expecting too much from a $29 camera, but the depth of focus is poor, and the dynamic range and picture correction is also poor. I am comparing this to a Sony camcorder which does video streaming, and to the digital picture quality of a Nikon 2 MegaPixel camera. We'll see how important these failings really are when I get into Yahoo Messenger video chats more.

Summary: I was looking for a cheap webcam that would let me video-chat with my friends online. I came across this one at Bestbuy and decided to try it. My first expressions was ok. The installation process was smooth, I had no problems. Picture quality was ok for a $30 webcam. I did never expect much in terms of picture quality. Software package included almost the same softwares with $50 webcams. My problems started when I tried to chat with my girlfriend. Netmeeting simply did not work. It did not let me click on the play-video button after connection established. This was wierd since it let me do that when there was no connection. I tried to configure Netmeeting as well as the webcam itself, but nothing changed. When you use Netmeeting for video conferencing, it will not let you click on play button. Then I decided to try Yahoo Messenger for video conferencing. Yes, my girlfriend got my video BUT THE IMAGE WAS UPSIDE DOWN AND THERE WERE THREE FACES. At first, I thought that this was caused by my girlfriend's computer since it was a little old. But I changed my mind when I remembered I had used Logitech WebCam Express with the same systems and it had worked with both Yahoo and Netmeeting. My evidences were not enough to blame this webcam. So I asked one of my friends with a brand new computer (like mine) if we could try Yahoo for video conferencing. The result was the same: Upside down and three faces. It did work well, however, with Windows Messenger of Windows XP but this means that all my friends have to have Windows XP if I want to use this webcam, which does not make sense. One more problem that I noticed is that there was bugs in VEO Digital Studio software. When you want to quit the application, it asks you whether you want to save the work or not, giving three choices: Yes, No, Cancel. If you ever happen to click on cancel, it results with several (between 30 and up) error messages. As a conclusion, VEO Connect is a webcam that does not work with Netmeeting and Yahoo Messenger. It could be a cheap solution for people like me who do not expect much from a webcam, if it ever worked. It truly is a bad product. I will not even ask for support, and turn it back immediately. I will buy Logitech Quickcam Express instead, which I have tried before and I know it works.
